Restaurant Tree Update

We're happy to report that additional leaves are sprouting on the 2016 Restaurant Tree!

The Greater Keller Women's Club Foundation invites local restaurants to participate in the annual GKWC Garden of Roses fundraiser, which is scheduled for April 2, 2016 at the Texas Motor Speedway. One of the most popular attractions at the fundraiser is the "Restaurant Tree", which is typically sold out within minutes of of the auction opening.   • How did you hear about GKWC and what prompted you to join?  I met Patty Recca through the Chamber of Commerce and she invited me to join GKWC.

  • If not, list other volunteer roles have you held with prior Garden of Roses fashion shows/fundraisers?  I've done publicity since 2011.
  • What are you most looking forward to with the 2016 fundraiser and your role?  I'm looking forward to using the Greater Giving software this year making it quicker and easier for guests.  it's going to be great raising money for the local charities the club supports.

Look Who's Already On The Restaurant Tree!

One of the most popular attractions at the GKWC Garden of Roses annual fundraiser is the "Restaurant Tree"! 

For $20, guests purchase an envelope from the tree for a chance to win a gift certificate donated from local restaurants. The value of each gift certificate is at least $20, and in some cases could range from $50 to $100.

At the Nov. 9th committee meeting, Jean Manuszak, Committee Chair for the Restaurant Tree, reported receiving donations from the following restaurants, and anticipates many more in the weeks leading up to the event:
  1. FnG Eats, located in Keller Town Center
  2. Kirby's Steakhouse, located in Southlake
  3. Fish City Grill, located in Southlake
  4. Sea Siam, located in Keller 
  5. Christina's, located in Southlake

  • How long have you been a member of GKWC? 15 months
  • How did you hear about GKWC and what prompted you to join?  Being new to Keller, I wanted to get involved in the community and meet new people.  I googled community volunteer opportunities and discovered the GKWC and mailed in my application.
  • Is this the first time you've volunteered for the Garden of Roses fundraising committee?  No
  • If not, list other volunteer roles have you held with prior Garden of Roses fashion shows/fundraisers?  I helped with Raffle last year.
  • What are you most looking forward to with the 2016 fundraiser and your role?  I'm loving working with my co-chair Beth Murray.  I'm very excited to see our champagne flute "Barometer" fill up when we reach our goal.  It thrills me to give back and the GKWC is a great way to help fulfill that desire!

  • How did you hear about GKWC and what prompted you to join?  A friend invited me to a meeting and I fell in love with the group and its energy and wanted to be part of it.
  • Is this the first time you've volunteered for the Garden of Roses fundraising committee?  No
  • If not, list other volunteer roles have you held with prior Garden of Roses fashion shows/fundraisers?  I was previously stage design, a greeter and this is my third time to co-chair.
  • What are you most looking forward to with the 2016 fundraiser and your role?  I love helping raise money for 501(c)(3) organizations and KISD graduating seniors.  I also have a passion for this talented group of women, our camaraderie and our ability to work so well together to pull off a successful event!

The distinguished Gladys Barrett Award is presented by the GKWC Foundation to a Greater Keller Women's Club member who has made a major contribution of time and energy in furthering the success of the Garden of Roses Fashion Show & Luncheon,Gala or Brunch and also has been an ambassador for the GKWC throughout the Northeast Tarrant County community. This award is not presented each year, but only when the GKWC Foundation feels a member is deserving.

  • How long have you been a member of GKWC? Since 2007
  • How did you hear about GKWC and what prompted you to join?  I heard about the club from a friend and neighbor, Linda Boylan, who invited me to an Evening Group meeting. Everyone was so welcoming and the more I learned about the philanthropic and community service mission of the Club, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
  • Is this the first time you've volunteered for the Garden of Roses fundraising committee?  No
  • If not, list other volunteer roles have you held with prior Garden of Roses fashion shows/fundraisers?  I’ve been involved in some capacity practically every year since I joined GKWC, volunteering on various committees, and I was Event Co-Chair in 2011.
  • What are you most looking forward to with the 2016 fundraiser and your role?   I’m really looking forward to increasing public awareness for the Event through a more concentrated social media marketing effort, including our new Garden of Roses Blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram pages, as well as posting our videos on YouTube. By increasing public awareness, we hopefully will reach additional sponsors, donors and guests who would like to be involved with the Event and support the charities in the community. Also, working with a group of dedicated women with a common goal is always rewarding.
